Discovering Family Fun on the Carnival Mardi Gras
Our family recently returned from an unforgettable adventure aboard the Carnival Mardi Gras, and I can't wait to share the highlights of our trip! From thrilling excursions to relaxing days at sea, every moment was filled with joy and excitement.
Monkey Tour in Amber Cove
One of the standout experiences was our Monkey Tour in Amber Cove. We had the chance to interact with playful monkeys in their natural habitat. It was a unique and heartwarming experience that our teen sons absolutely loved. Seeing their faces light up as they fed the monkeys was priceless!
Fabulous Beach Day with a Private Cabana
One of the highlights of our trip was a fabulous beach day where we enjoyed a private cabana. It felt luxurious to have our own space right by the water, complete with an authentic Bahamian lunch and drinks served to us. My husband and sons explored the island, wildlife and waves, while I relaxed in our cabana space, making it the perfect day for our family.
Golf Cart Tour of Grand Turk
Lastly, we explored Grand Turk on a golf cart tour. This was a fantastic way to take in the stunning scenery at our own pace. The vibrant colors of the island and the friendly locals made it a memorable adventure. We even discovered some hidden gems along the way, including local shops and beautiful beaches.
Exceptional Service and Delicious Dining
The service on the Carnival Mardi Gras was simply wonderful. From our friendly servers to the attentive staff, everyone went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing time. The food was delicious, with plenty of options to satisfy every palate. Our sons especially enjoyed the wide variety of dining choices available, often returning for seconds!
Fun Teen Programs and Entertainment
The onboard teen programs kept our sons entertained throughout the cruise. They made new friends and participated in fun activities, which allowed us some much-needed relaxation time in the adults-only area. While we loved the shows, we found it a bit tricky to fit them into our schedule due to our dining times. However, we still enjoyed the variety of entertainment options available.
Beautiful Balcony Room and Thrilling Activities
Our balcony room offered stunning views of the ocean, and it was the perfect place to unwind after a busy day. The roller coaster at sea was a thrilling experience that our sons enjoyed, along with various other activities that kept us engaged and entertained throughout the cruise.
Conclusion
Overall, our family trip on the Carnival Mardi Gras was a fantastic experience that we will cherish for years to come. From exciting excursions to relaxing days at sea, every moment was filled with laughter and joy. If you're considering a family cruise, I highly recommend setting sail on this incredible ship!

Discovering MSC Meraviglia: My Journey into European Cruising
Recently, I had the chance to sail on the stunning MSC Meraviglia, an Italian cruise line making waves in the American market. My travel experience revealed why MSC is inviting travel agents aboard—they offer a unique European approach that comes with its own set of challenges.
From the get-go, I faced a learning curve. Arranging transfers was tricky; one agent said it was fine to arrive the day before, while another said it wasn’t. Luckily, I heeded the latter’s advice! I also encountered issues with excursions and a double charge for their thermal spa package. Navigating the insurance documents was a headache, and my gluten allergy required several emails to clarify my needs. These initial challenges made me wonder if the cruise itself would be worth the hassle.
Despite the bumps in the road, these experiences equipped me to help others looking to explore MSC’s distinct offerings. If you're after a typical American cruise experience, MSC might not be your best fit. However, for those ready to embrace a European flair, I highly recommend giving it a try! The food, entertainment, and staff are all part of a unique cruise experience. Plus, they offer four tiers of staterooms: Bella, Fantastica, Aurea, and Yacht Club.
Our adventure kicked off in New York City, where we set sail for an 8-night journey to Miami, Ocean Cay (MSC’s private marine preserve), and Nassau in the Bahamas. In Miami, we enjoyed an Everglades tour and spotted some alligators. Ocean Cay was a paradise for snorkeling and kayaking, and in Nassau, we explored the city to plan our return trip with our sons next year, marking spots like Junkanoo Beach and the pirate museum. A tip for navigating street vendors: avoid eye contact and keep moving!
Onboard, the Meraviglia dazzled me with its elegance—sparkling crystal staircases and immaculate spaces. While the buffet could get chaotic, the unique dishes offered, like bamboo salad and homemade mozzarella, were worth it. Unfortunately, gluten-free pizza is no longer available due to a past lawsuit, but the main dining room was a delight. Our dining staff was exceptional, personalizing our experience and ensuring my gluten allergy was accommodated.
The ship buzzed with activities—dancing lessons, bingo, nightlife, and even a casino. There were multiple pools and hot tubs to relax in after long days of walking.
One of my favorite spots was my Cove Balcony, where I enjoyed breathtaking sunrises and views of arriving ports. I also indulged daily in the Thermal Spa, which featured a European spa circuit that left my skin feeling incredible.
MSC offers different levels of staterooms. The Bella is basic, while Fantastica and Aurea provide extra perks. The Yacht Club features exclusive amenities, but at a higher cost. One unique aspect of MSC is their bidding system for specialty suites, allowing guests to snag upgrades at a discount. I missed the chance to bid for a Yacht Club suite, which would have saved us money on additional packages.
Would I book another cruise on the Meraviglia? Absolutely! I highly recommend MSC, especially if you work with a knowledgeable travel advisor familiar with their offerings.
Curious about booking your own cruise? Feel free to email me—I'd be thrilled to help you plan an unforgettable MSC experience!
